Extended once again till March 31, 2022. CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) has issued a notification regarding this. The CBDT has extended the deadline for linking PAN Card with Aadhaar Card till March 31, 2022, as claimed in a tweet on September 17. Earlier this deadline was ending on 30 September 2021.

  1. First of all go to www.incometaxgov.in.
  2. After this click on Our Service, there you will get the option of Link Aadhaar.
  3. After this go to Link Aadhaar Know About Aadhaar Pan Linking Status option.
  4. A new page will open. Enter your PAN and Aadhaar Card details there.
  5. Once you have given all the details, click on 'View Link Aadhaar Status'.
  6. After this, you will see separately whether your PAN card is linked with Aadhar card or not.

How to link your PAN with Aadhaar at e-Filing Website


  • To link Pan Card with Aadhar Card, one has to first go to the e-filing website of Income Tax.
  • On the left side of the site you will get the option of Link Aadhar, click on it.
  • After clicking on it, the option to fill the details will open in front of you, fill all your details in it.
  • In these options, there will be an option to fill PAN number, Aadhaar number, fill it also.
  • After filling all the details enter the captcha code.
  • After doing this, click on Link Aadhar.
  • On clicking, your PAN card will be linked with Aadhar card.
  • Its information will also be visible on your screen.

Linking Aadhaar with PAN like this through SMS


You have to type UIDPAN on your phone. After this, enter the 12 digit Aadhaar number. Then enter the 10 digit PAN number. Now send the message mentioned in step 1 to 567678 or 56161.

Linking Aadhaar with PAN This is offline way


Even if you do not have internet connectivity, you can link your PAN card with Aadhar card. For this you will have to take the help of SMS. To link your PAN card with Aadhaar via SMS, you have to type UIDPAN <Aadhar Number> <Pan Number> from your registered number and SMS it to 567678 or 561561. After doing this, you will get the information about the linking of PAN with Aadhaar through a message.

Facility to make corrections to link Aadhaar with PAN


Keep in mind that Aadhaar and PAN will be linked only when all the information in all your documents matches with each other. If you have spelling mistakes in your name, your PAN will not be linked with Aadhaar. You can make changes through the UIDAI website or through the portal of NSDL PAN.   1. Visit the UIDAI webpage by clicking https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update, and enter your Aadhaar and security code
  2. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number
  3. If you want to change the spelling of your name, then only OTP is required
  4. If you also need to change other details like gender and date of birth, you will also need to send supporting documents for renewal
  5. Once approved, the customer can link his PAN card with Aadhaar

Step 2: To make changes or corrections in existing PAN data, select the option “‘Changes or correction in existing PAN data/Reprint of PAN Card” from the drop down menu
Step 3: Select Personal Loan and enter your details
Step 4: Pay after Aadhaar E-KYC and submit your form online
Step 5: Your updated PAN will be sent to your address
Step 6: Once you get your PAN card, you can link your PAN with Aadhaar

If your name is misspelled in the PAN card, follow the steps below to make corrections:


Step 1: Visit the Aadhaar Enrollment Center
Step 2: Carry a self-attested copy of your proof of identity,
Step 3: Fill the Aadhaar Enrollment Form
Step 4: Submit the form along with the documents
Step 5: You will get a receipt indicating the update request number
Step 6: This URN can be used to know the status of your update
Step 7: Once you are updated and your name is correct, you can link your PAN with Aadhaar

How to activate idle pan

Inactive PAN card can be activated. For this you have to send an SMS. You have to go to the message box and after entering the 10 digit PAN number from your registered mobile, enter the 12 digit Aadhaar number by giving space and SMS to 567678 or 56161.
